Why Did National Flatbed Choose 53' Stepdecks?

A step deck (or drop deck) trailer is a "open-deck" semi-trailer that allows for easy loading and unloading of large cargo. Its lack of sides, roof, and doors enables easy loading with a crane or fork lift , and the step gives the trailer a lower profile, allowing taller freight to be transported than could be moved on a conventional flatbed. All of our trailers are 53' step decks, which means that they have a 10' long upper deck, an 18" drop from the top deck to lower deck, and a 43' long lower deck.

We chose stepdecks because of their versatility. Their lower profile makes them easier to load and allows for transport of taller cargo. In combination with our factory ramps and load levelers, our fleet of stepdecks is also ideal for roll-on, roll-off (RORO) loading and unloading, and can support cargo that is longer than the bottom deck.
